Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Chairman Higher Education Commission Pakistan, visited the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, on April 9, 2026. He was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman, Director CEMB, along with group heads and faculty members.

During the visit, the Director briefed the Chairman on ongoing research projects, services, and product development initiatives at CEMB. Prof. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar toured various laboratories including Stem Cell laboratories, Genetic Screening & Genetic Diseases laboratories, Biopharmaceutical & Proteomics laboratories, Cotton Research laboratories, and Virology laboratories. He also held detailed discussions with researchers regarding ongoing scientific activities and translational research efforts.

The Chairman appreciated the high-quality research, innovative services, and product development at CEMB, and commended the team for their contributions toward strengthening biotechnology and molecular biology research in Pakistan.
