Tribute to Parveen Shakir: Call to Revive and Promote Urdu Language

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Dean, Faculty of Oriental Learning, University of the Punjab, Lahore, attended a ceremony hosted by Faisalabad Medical University to pay tribute to the renowned poet Parveen Shakir on her birth anniversary. The event aimed to initiate a movement for the revival and promotion of the Urdu language. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr. Zafar Ali Chaudhry, Vice Chancellor of Faisalabad Medical University. Guest of honors included Prof. Dr. Kanwal Amin, Vice Chancellor of GC Woman University Faisalabad, and renowned poet Saima Kamran. In his address, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran highlighted the diverse themes and beauty of Parveen Shakir's poetry, describing her as the true voice of South Asian women. He praised Saima Kamran's poetry as a continuation of Parveen Shakir's legacy. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran emphasized the significance of Urdu for Pakistan's social and economic progress in the 21st century, stressing its role in national unity and development.
